you can directly save an item directly from a Web browser on the desktop by pulling the / image "Show Desktop" button.
If you want to save an image to load Firefox on the desktop, then drag the image to Desktop button at extreme lower right show and wait until you see your desktop.
Now they lay everywhere on the desktop and it will be an image file. The same is true for any type of file in PDF, MP3, or be anything if you save on hyperlink, they will try to save a link link.
